About Us
- M.A. Patout & Son, Sterling Sugars, and Raceland Raw Sugar are growers and processors
of sugar cane from which raw sugar, cane syrup, and blackstrap molasses are produced
in Southern Louisiana.
- They produce eatable invert syrup.
- They produce molasses.
- All raw sugar produced has a pol of 98.0º to 99.5º.
- Total land owned is 43,000 acres.

Machinery
- M.A. Patout & Son uses four continuous and automatic vacuum pans of South African
design.
- Two complete machine shops are maintained for factory equipment repairs, along with
reshelling and grooving of mill rolls.
- M.A.Patout & Son has the first and only cane diffuser operating in North America.
- A 10,000 metric ton per day cane diffuser of South African design is in use today.
- M.A.Patout & Son maintains two shops for complete repair of trucks and field
equipment.
Shipment
- All shipments are by railroads, truck, and barge.
- All cane is received by tractor and truck.
Expansion
- All three factories have been on a ten-year expansion and will continue for another
five years.
